I take meds for high blood pressure. Usually most people in my family get it in their 40s but I held out until my mid 50s so I am doing as expected but slightly better in the health department.
Anyway, There was a glitch in the computer system of either my Doctor's affiliated Hospital System and my large Pharmacy's computer system. This made it so my Doctors group said "We sent the renewal" and my pharmacist's group said "we did not get the renewal, contact your doctor to send it again.
Over and over. For 2 weeks.
Finally after 5 days without medication I called a Lawyer we know who does medical malpractice. I told her the situation and she said "oh, let me make some calls"
30 minutes later I got a call from my Doctor's medical group "your prescriptions should be ready now" and then I checked voicemail and it was my Pharmacy's HQ and a human rep who said "your prescriptions should be ready now"
I called our lawyer friend and asked what happened and she said "I told them that if you died, eDiscovery in the lawsuit would likely find that neither group tried to resolve the issue and both would be liable for a preventable death" and both groups agreed it was better to keep my alive than to get sued so they worked together, found the issue (which they did not disclose what it was) and got sent a bill for splitting 1 hour of legal work that they agreed to pay.
If I was not able to advocate for myself I would have eventually been killed by a stroke and it would have been no one's fault. (this is one of the many reason's the USA has such a high preventable death rate).
I suspect two computers were not capable of "talking" to one another for whatever reason, but imagine that my death was more desirable for 2 weeks than submitting a trouble ticket to an IT department somewhere.
